The next day: I goddup around 1:00. Chunk called ~ he said he'd like to borrow the Imperial t'day to go to Hermosa Beach to see Sherry, to see if he & she would go to King's on Memorial Day -- they're having races there then. Note how I tried starting writing this neatly -- couldn't keep it up too long. Heck I thought I was good at penmanship. Another myth bites the dust.
Today isn't over yet, so I ain't got much to say, except that I've been wasting my time writing in this thing since one thirty, and that the President happens to be in Moscow today, as he has been yesterday, and the day before. They say this is history in the making, but is it really? How important is all this going to be -- how much room will this year take up in history books? After one hundred forty four days, Nixon has been to China and Moscow, and two more men have been to the moon, and George Wallace has been shot.
This is also an election year -- it'll be pretty crowded with various events before it's over. I guess this is gonna be a fairly historical year -- with attempted assassinations, good will tours, moon landings, Viet Nam blockades, and Presidential elections (which, of course, will be won by Nixon) -- so what? I'm trying to think of something profound -- I've got it:
The history of the past is but a mere puppet-show.
A little man comes out and blows a little trumpet -- and goes in again.
You look for something new; And lo! --
Another little man comes out, and blows another little trumpet -- and goes in again.
